Mortons Plain Scones
1/2 tsp Salt
1.4 oz (50g) Butter
Fat for Greasing
Preheat the oven to 220C/ 425F/ Gas Mark 7.
Line a baking sheet with grease proof paper and grease.
Sift the flour and salt into a large mixing and rub in the butter then mix into a soft dough with the milk using a knife.
Knead very lightly on a floured surface until smooth. Roll out the dough to about 1cm thick and cut into rounds using a 6cm cutter. Re-roll the trimmings and re-cut.
Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
Cool on a wire rack.
