Plain Chocolate Loaf
6 oz (175g) Mortons Plain Flour
2 oz (50g) Cocoa
2 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 tsp Bicarbonate Soda
1/4 tsp Salt
5 oz (150g) Sugar
2 Eggs (Beaten)
3 oz (75g) Melted Butter
8 fl. oz (250ml) Milk
Fat for Greasing
Pre-heat the oven to 180 C/ 350F/ Gas Mark 4.
Line and grease a 23 x 13 x 7.5cm or 9 x 5 x 3inch loaf tin
Sift the Mortons Flour, cocoa, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda ad salt into a mixing bowl. Stir in the sugar.
In another bowl beat the eggs with the melted butter and milk. Pour the mixture into the dry ingredients and stir lightly but thoroughly.
Spoon into the prepared tin and bake for 40 – 50 minutes until cooked through and firm to the touch.
Cool on a wire rack.
